Cost to Replace and Rehire. - Overall cost of replacing an employee is at least 50% of their annual compensation.
The Trend doesn't End. - Approximately 54% of 20-24 year-olds leave their jobs within a year. That number jumps to 78 % with 16-19 year-olds.
If they Stay it will Pay. They're adaptable, able to grasp new concepts, multi-taskers, efficient and tolerant.
6 Month Technician Maintenance Checklist
Is there constant and consistent feedback about the job they are doing?
Is your employee being effectively mentored? (ref: Mentoring Guide)
How are you inspiring and engaging them? (They are participants and they crave the limelight.)
Are your providing ample training and learning opportunities? Gen-Y'er's love to learn and they value education.
Do they have opportunities to display their true identities? If you give them their identity they'll give you their loyalty.
Have you fully informed them of your product / mission? It's hard to stay motivated when you don't care about what's going on at your company.
Are you validating decisions or policies? Yer's need to know how a decision or policy will affect them before wrapping their arms around it.
Are they provided opportunities to do things creatively, to try and fail? Yer's want to know how to improve, the best mangers give directions, step back, give directions, step back.
Are you taking advantage of properly branding them? GenY'ers are image driven, image is everything with them. They can be the most effective and important ambassadors for your brand.
